The part of Scotland described in this book includes all the hill and mountain areas from the central valley between the Forth and the Clyde northwards to the Moor of Rannoch. In the southern part of this area are the low hills such as the Campsies, the Ochils and the Lomonds of Fife which are a familiar part of the landscape of central Scotland. Further north The Trossachs, Ben Lomond and the Arrochar Alps mark the start of the Highlands, and to the north of them are some of the great peaks of Argyll and Breadalbane – Ben Lui, Ben More and Ben Lawers – where the mountains of the Southern Highlands reach their full stature. All these hills and mountains and many more are described in this guidebook.

This is an SMC hillwalkers’ guidebook, published by the Scottish Mountaineering Press.
