The Cuillin of Skye has long been regarded as one of the finest climbing areas in the UK and has always been a mecca for climbers – indeed, it can be argued that Scottish climbing began here. There are summer and winter routes at the very highest levels and more than 20 peaks are connected by a narrow crest to give one of the finest climbs in Europe. In winter the Cuillin becomes Alpine in nature with the ridges all giving quality climbing. The mixed climbing is on a par with anywhere else in Scotland, with over 70 new winter routes added in recent years.
This is an SMC climbers’ guidebook, published by Scottish Mountaineering Press.
