Maps get a revamp

As a company, one of our core aims is to increase participation in mountain activities by improving our guidebooks, and with that in mind, we’re updating our mapping style to be more user-friendly. After introducing a new colour ramp and hill shading to represent the lay of the land in an intuitive way, we asked for input from some of our readers with visual impairments such as colour blindness. Thanks to their feedback, we’ve darkened the contour and water features on our maps to improve contrast, avoided placing text on areas where the shading is darker, and used different text formats for the hierarchy of hills.
