Creatives October Flash Contest – Nonfiction

It’s back… Announcing the 2025 Creatives Flash Contest series! 

We’re delighted to announce the 2025 Flash Contest series from Creatives! As in previous years, we’ll be launching a contest each month for October, November and December, with categories in nonfiction, fiction and poetry. This year, we will be accepting entries in English, Gaelic, Doric and Scots.

The winner of each contest will receive a £50 cash prize and a weekend pass to Fort William Mountain Festival 2026, as well as have their work featured in our Creatives publication and festival events. The runners-up in each contest will be published on our website as part of a feature article. Winners will be announced in the new year .

The theme for October is COLOUR.

– Genre: NONFICTION
– Word count: 150 words
– Visual artists are also invited to submit ONE image on the theme
– Submission deadline: 31 October

Visual artists are also invited to submit ONE image per theme. there will be one visual artist winner for the complete contest series.

Entries should be in keeping with the themes outlined in our Creatives submission guidelines. To submit, send your entry to creatives@scottishmountaineeringpress.com.

Contests for November and December will be announced on the 1st and close at the end of each month.
