A little bit about us …
The Scottish Mountaineering Press exists to promote and share Scotland’s natural wonders. We publish under two imprints, Scottish Mountaineering Press (SMP) and Scottish Mountaineering Club (SMC).
Through our partnership with the Scottish Mountaineering Club, we publish guidebooks that cover hillwalking, scrambling and climbing. We want our guidebooks to be the first you reach for when you head for the cliffs, hills and outcrops of Scotland. You’ll recognise all future SMC publications by looking out for the rope and axes logo on the spine, as seen on the SMC’s new guide to The Munros.
We are a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Scottish Mountaineering Trust charity and we channel all of our profits into the Trust.
All other books are published under the Scottish Mountaineering Press imprint. Through this range of books, we aspire to represent the breadth of activities enjoyed in the Scottish mountains and the passion of the individuals that undertake them. The Great Sea Cliffs of Scotland, published in 2020, is the first book to carry the new SMP eagle mark.
We are a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Scottish Mountaineering Trust charity and we channel all of our profits into the Trust. The primary object of the Trust is to promote and support health, education and recreation in the mountains of Scotland and elsewhere. It fosters knowledge of mountain geography, biology and weather, along with the skills needed to walk and climb safely in the mountains.
Our organisation is comprised of five voluntary directors and a small team of passionate freelancers who share the vision of the Scottish Mountaineering Press. If you’ve got experience or expertise to offer, and are excited by what we do, we’d love to hear from you.
