David C. Weinczok is a historian, writer, poet, and adoptive Scot originally from Nova Scotia, Canada. David has worked with many of Scotland’s heritage organisations, including the National Trust for Scotland and the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, to tell the stories of Scotland’s built and natural environments. He has visited over 450 Scottish castles and holds a special fondness for the islands of Rousay in Orkney and Barra in the Outer Hebrides. David’s 2019 book, The History Behind Game of Thrones: The North Remembers, used fantasy as a bridge to introduce readers to Scotland’s history. He is currently working on his second book, a children’s picture book set in ancient Orkney, and a poetry collection. David lives in Portobello, Edinburgh, with his partner and dog.
